LAFAYETTE, La. — The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns suffered another tough setback Saturday night, falling 22-10 to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium. The loss dropped the Cajuns to 2-5 overall (1-2 Sun Belt), while Southern Miss improved to 5-2 (3-0 Sun Belt) and remained unbeaten in conference play.
First Quarter — Cajuns Strike First
Louisiana opened the game with its best drive of the night — a methodical 16-play, 85-yard march capped by a 3-yard rushing touchdown from Lunch Winfield, giving the Cajuns an early 7-0 lead. The defense held strong through the first quarter, forcing a Southern Miss punt and a turnover on downs to preserve the advantage.
